There will be more data and proper atribution here (original author, steam link, original post date, etc) real soon, I promise. This is just like a technical test to see if they're coming in ok at all.
Armaggeddon » Content Drop: Close Combat
After a longer wait than anticipated, the first content update for Armechgeddon is here!
If you have played the game thoroughly already, I’d recommend waiting for the full release to go back in and play again. There is fun stuff here, but not quite enough to warrant another full playthrough or anything.
Although I have some awesome help for parts of the game, this is primarily a one man show. I also am working a full-time day job, and just became a father! ːsteamhappyː We’re settling into new routines, and my time management is improving. But the next couple updates to bring Armechgeddon up to full release status should not take nearly as long as this one did.
- Added the Odachi mech, a melee focused mech with a real big sword.
- Added the Brawler pilot, a melee focused pilot.
- Added the Nanite Leech upgrade, allowing lifesteal for your weapons.
- Added the Wrecking Flail weapon, a giant spiked ball to swing around.
- Added the Tower Shield weapon, a defensive barrier against enemies and bullets.
- Mechs can now have 6 unique upgrades, up from 4.
- Weapons can now have 4 unique upgrades, up from 3.
- Because of this, the new level cap is ~80.
- Map is now finite, and has several behind-the-scenes changes to facilitate the upcoming map features.
- Maps now have more diverse scenery
- Pilot portraits cleaned up a bit
- Fixed unlimited framerate that caused some heat/power usage issues.
Most of the upgrades in the game, and the garage, have been tweaked in this update, too many to bother listing. In short, many upgrades got nerfed so that other upgrades were more useful, and to make room for more upgrades that are planned to increase how many options you have for a build.
Overall, I’d say the difficulty has been bumped up a bit by these changes. But there are more tools arriving in your toolbelt soon.
For Armechgeddon’s next content drop, you can again expect 1 new mech, 1 new pilot, 1 new map, and 2 new weapons. I also have planned at least 4 more upgrades, and the goal is to get the map features (destructible buildings and objectives) in as well. This is all subject to change, but most of it has been started to some degree, and it’s looking good.
I appreciate everyone’s feedback, reviews, and comments. And please post any issues you find with this update or big ideas in this event thread. Much appreciated!
